What we collect
When you create a merchant account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely as a one-way hash, never in plain text). When customers place an order through a store on this platform, we collect their name, phone number, and optionally their email address, along with details of what they purchased.
How we use it
Merchant information is used to operate your account and store. Customer order information is shared with the relevant merchant so they can fulfill the order, and is used to display payment instructions (mobile money or bank details) provided by the merchant. We do not sell customer or merchant data to third parties.
Payments
Payments are made directly between buyer and seller via mobile money or bank transfer. Marketstand does not process payments, store card or account credentials, or have access to funds at any point — we only display the payment details a merchant chooses to share, along with an order reference.
Data storage
Data is stored in a hosted database and is not publicly accessible. Product photos are hosted via Cloudinary.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us using the details below.
